50 & 100 ohm Speakers for LokSound.

Text Box: Speakers for V3, 3.5 and Micro: We carry a very wide range of 100 and 50 ohm speakers from a tiny 12mm to 20 x 40mm oval. It is important to pre-plan the speaker installation and ensure that your chosen speaker combination will give a final impedance of between 50 and 100 ohms. If you are not sure, please email us. Speakers for LokSound XL: LokSound XL speakers are available in both 16 and 32 ohms, and your LokSound XL will work happily with any combination that gives a final impedance of between 8 and 32 ohms. If you would like some advice on correct speaker choice, please email us.

Text Box: We have over 30 years experience in audio and speaker box design, so really do understand the difficulties in getting great sound from the tiny speakers that must be chosen to fit inside your models. Where space is always at a premium, you need to think a little laterally about how and where to install them, and we strongly recommend that whenever possible, you either use the enclosures provided or construct a small enclosure for the speakers. This can be made from any material, however you will be very surprised at how well things will work with a sealed enclosure made from stiff card and sealed by painting all over inside and out with 5 minute epoxy or similar. The single most important thing: Make your speaker enclosure totally airtight!

Speakers for Tsunami, Quantum/QSI and Others

(all sound decoders which require 8 or 16 ohm spkr)

Text Box: When selecting speakers for any 8 ohm decoder, remember that 8 ohms is the minimum impedance that the decoder will comfortably tolerate. When using multiple speakers, 2 speakers must be configured in series and 4 speakers can be in a series parallel group (two sets of speakers in series which are then wired in parallel). Be sure to keep speakers in phase or bass will be lost.
